Summary:

As I live in Australia Halloween isn’t such a big deal for me but I can understand that in other countries, particulary the USA that the event is a BIG deal.
Apparently its a big deal in New Mouse City too as there are regular Halloween themed Geronimo Stilton Books and the latest is called The Peculiar Pumpkin Thief.
In this latest instalment of Geronimo Stilton’s adventures, Geronimo is Halloween costume shopping with Benjamin when a rogue banana peel draws his attention to his friend Hercule Poirat who of course wants Geronimo’s help on a new case. Needless to say Geronimo runs away as fast as his short legs will carry him.
Later however, when all the Halloween costumes, props and pumpkins strangely disappear from New Mouse City Geronimo turns to his friend for help.
The plot thickens when Geronimo receives an invitation to celebrate Halloween at Mystery Park, an amusement park in the heart of New Mouse City...that no one has ever heard of! It turns out that everyone in the town received the same invitation and most people are going, after all there are no costumes or pumpkins.
When everybody turns up to the park on Halloween night the gates close behind them...and the lights go out leaving everyone in pitch black darkness.
But don’t worry Hercule Poirat was ready for the trap and with he help of Geronimo he solves the mystery and catches the mastermind behind the plan.
I found parts of this book genuinely spooky, unlike most of the other Halloween Geronimo books that I thought were just funny-scary, this freaked me out a little. Perhaps I find clowns a little scary! Still it’s nothing like a horror movie mind you, just spooky.
I enjoyed reading The Peculiar Pumpkin Thief, despite being a scaredy cat (I have something in common with Geronimo here!) and would recommend it to fans as it ends up bing a great adventure and alot of fun.
