Hey Inger i am wondering how much does it cost to copyright books if u right them urself. Because i am writing some books at the moment and i want to copyright them when i get over 18 but i might get my parents to copyright them just so i can show people my books and nobody can steal them. Like on the internet if i posted one now and someone liked it they could just copyright it and then they own the book and i am not allowed to publish it.

If you are thinking of publishing I definately wouldn’t put your book online.
You can take a look at the guide to Australian copyright law which (from what I can see) tells you that you have copyright when you write something down.
But in practice this may be hard to prove, as in someone might see your work, they write it down to and then how can you prove who had copyright first.
My advice would be to write your story as best you can then show a teacher, your parents or someone you trust and you can work out what to do next. (ie approach a publisher, agent or editor)
Good luck with it, sounds like a great goal to have.
