The story opens with Geronimo feeling a little thin on the top of his head. His attempts to bring back his youthful head of hair are interrupted by a phone call from his friend, the brilliant scientist Professor Von Volt. Apparently the professor is in danger and needs Geronimo to bring his private journal to the Himalayas. He then murmurs something about Yeti footprints and the line goes dead.

Determined to help his friend, Geronimo skilfully recruits his family to accompany him to Nepal to track down the professor. Geronimo’s departure from New Mouse City is a hilarious exercise in this reluctant hero’s penchant for emotional manipulation rather than direct request. After their arrival in Kathmandu the trio set off on the trail of the professor. Soon Geronimo is separated from the group and discovers footprints that can only belong to the mythical beast known as the Yeti, or abominable snowman.

I won’t reveal how the story pans out, needless to say I don’t think we have seen the last of Professor Von Volt (expect him to reappear with his time machine in the Graphic Novel series).

Geronimo is as always an endearing fellow and proves his reluctant mettle once again to protect and encourage his friends and family. This is the true strength of the Geronimo Stilton books, the sense of honour and love between the main characters as they work to solve the mysteries together.
