Geronimo is stranded in the middle of a very dark and scary forest in the middle of a rainy night and has nowhere else to seek cover but a foreboding old castle belonging to Duke Bigpaw Cannycat.
Once inside the castle our brave hero quickly finds many things amiss. For one, even though the castle seems empty there are signs of life, including the eyes of a portrait that follow him as he passes by. Thea and Trap finally show up with Benjamin in tow and together they solve the mystery of the haunting of the castle.
Geronimo’s great heart shows though in this book and he finds he is brave and compassionate despite being confronted by his greatest fear. The scares are light and nothing to cause sleepless nights about for even the littlest reader.
